Summer is over? School has started?

Holy crap! The summer is already over and school has started! In my last post, my goal was to update my blog more often...Made some statement that I'd have more time to do so during the summer. HA! What I was I drinking? Overall, we had a great summer...Towards the end though, I was so ready for everyone to go back to school. I had NO nerves left and I was headed for the mental ward. Off the top of my mushy, squishy brain, here are some of the things we did: Basketball camp, Vacation Bible School, playdates with my Moms group, way too much fast food for lunch, weekend in Merritt Island, long weekened at Liki Tiki Village, weekend at Grammie & Pop Pops's (followed by 3 full days of the kids staying on at Grammie & Pop Pop's...I had THREE whole days ALONE with NO KIDS = Pure Heaven), Ed's 20th high school reunion, lots of swimming in our Intex above ground blue pool, a visit from Lito, lots of visits from Grammie & Pop Pop, Matthew's 3rd birthday, successful completion of ISR swim lessons for Matthew (He's now a FISH in the water), late nights and sleeping in until 10:00 (and even 11:00 on some days). All three kids grew several inches taller, Matthew finally grasped peeing and pooping in the potty 2 weeks before school started and he also started sleeping in his big boy bed. No more crib or high chair :o)

Jonathan started 3rd grade this year, Emily 1st and Matthew will go 3 days a week to pre-k. We are at the end of week 2 and so far, so good! Everyone transitioned pretty well from sleeping late to waking up at 7:00am....Y-A-W-N! That's just too darn early!

Lots to catch up on! It's been 2 months!

Wow, I can't believe it's been 2 months since my last post. My goal is to write something, anything, even one sentence at least three times a week! With summer coming (and the kids being out of school), I will have more time on my hands.

Ed & I celebrated our 10 year anniversary on March 20th. I was planning on being skinny, trim and sexy for our big celebration and dreamed that we'd go on a romantic excursion to some couples only island, but obviously that did not happen. Spring Break was the week of March 30th, so instead we took a trip Washington, DC with Emily and Jonathan. Grammie & Pop Pop watched Matthew :o) We left on Friday, March 27th and came back on Thursday, April 2nd. What a FUN FUN FUN week we had! We covered a lot of ground, walked for miles on end, visited my cousin Bonnie and Ed's good friend, Angel...We went to museums, rode a double decker tour bus and became pros at riding the metro. Jonathan is a mini Ed when it comes to learning and history - He LOVES to learn and will ask question after question about anything and everything.

Matthew singing Los Pollitos in Spanish

Ed paints...Matthew paints too!

Ed painted our living room one weekend and Matthew spent a good hour on the ladder, pretending to paint like Papi. A week later, Matthew got a hold of paint Ed left on the porch (white ceiling paint) and decided to add his own touch to the living room wall!

Disney World MLK Weekend

Lito and Lita had given the kids Disney World tickets for Christmas, so we asked Grammie & Pop Pop to babysit Matthew for the weekend, and off we went! We had soooooo much fun! Even though we live 40 minutes away from Orlando, we haven't been to Disney since 2004.

Emily LOVED the princesses, but Jonathan was NOT excited to chat with Sleeping Beauty!

Ha! Ha! Look at his posture...It cracks me up! Needless to say, he left the room after one picture.

We stayed until 11:00 at night - A full day of having FUN!

Matthew did pee-pee on the potty!

Hip hip hooray! Matthew's diaper had been dry since 9:00 this morning, so I just sat him on the big potty and he peed! WOOOOHOOO! We sang "Pee Pee on the potty! Pee Pee on the potty! Pee Pee on the potty! Go Matthew go!"

How exciting!!

Matthew's first REAL sentence is.......

Matthew's first real sentence/conversation is as follows:

He makes a fluffy noise with his mouth
Matthew: "Mom-meeeeeee!"
Me: "What buddy?"
Matthew: "You fluffied"
Roars of laughter follows.

That's our boy!

Riding in the car with Matthew was once peaceful and quiet. No more!

Where's da truck Mommy? Wow! A BIG truck? See it! Dere it is! Out ya window! Where'd it go? Dere is goes! Big truck, Mommy! Where's da cycle? Dere it is. There! Hi truck!"

Yesterday, he babbled for 2 hours straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picture of Michelle & Ed

Isn't this the cutest picture of Ed & his sister, Michelle?

Family Day with our PALS

On Saturday, we joined our PALS (Mommy group) for a family day cookout! It was soooo much fun! We brought along the bouncy house, which you can see was a hit. Matthew was Mr. Independent, going from one end of the yard to the other and then inside the house...He has no fear of people and loves to be a social butterfly! Jonathan was the ring leader for the smaller kids - He even got them all to lay down in the grass! HA! HA!

Matthew's 1st day at St. Paul

Matthew will be going to school twice a week this year! Jonathan & Emily both had the same teachers, so it's neat to see Matthew following in their footsteps (or in his case, LEADING). He's only been twice so far, but really seems to enjoy the activities and playing with other kids. He is a very independent, busy little guy - He knows what he wants and goes for it without looking back. Funny story about his 2nd day: Another little boy was plopped on the couch, crying is eyes and nose out. His cry was this horribly annoying car horn sound...HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! Matthew marches right up to him and says "WHAT HAPPENED?!" Then he bent down with his hands on his knees (I love that pose). Again, "WHAT HAPPENED?" Matthew then turned around, threw his hands into the air and started mocking him! "HONK! HONK! HONK!" Then he flings himself on another chair as if to say, "I cannot handle this stress first thing this morning!" If he could really talk, I think he would have thrown a few cuss words in there. So, I picked Matthew up to say good-bye and he yells out to the crying boy..."QUIET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Back to School 8-18-08

Jonathan & Emily started school on August 18th - Jonathan is in 2nd grade and our little Emily started Kindergarten! WOW! They are growing up so fast. The first picture below is from last year. You can see from the door handle how tall they have grown in just one year! My Mom jokes that they'll be 16 years old and I'll still be taking their picture in front of the door - Jonathan's friends blaring the horn: "Come on Jonathan! We're gonna be late!" Ha! Ha!

Here are quick videos of Emily & Jonathan - Click below to view

Emily's Gingerbread Design

One of Emily's homework assignments was to decorate a gingerbread person any way she wanted to! How stinkin' cute did it turn out!?! I had a stained dress in the garage sale pile that she cut up for the dress and hairbow. This one will make it to the fridge!

Piggy Tails

My little Emmy Em's piggy tails! Doesn't she look like Boo on Monster's Inc? Ha! Ha! Hard to believe she'll be 6 years old in 2 weeks!

Friday, August 1, 2008

We had a playdate this morning with our PALS (Mommy group) and it was sooooo awesome to get out of the house! Matthew has been sick this week, so we've been cooped up! Monday we are heading to the beach for the week and school starts in 2 weeks!!

Matthew as DUMBO

I am listing this Dumbo costume on eBay, so what better model than Matthew?!? He proudly marched around the house, showing it off...But all the excitement ended with a frown. Ha! Ha!
